CMPDI celebrates Public Sector Day

Public Sector Day was celebrated for the fi rst time in the Suvarnrekha Hall of CMPDI on the 10th April, 2010. A talk was organised in the Suvarnrekha Hall on this day. Shri A.K.Singh, CMD, CMPDI described the purpose of celebrating this day as to create consciousness amongst workmen about the valuable contribution of the Public Sector in the national economy and other achievements of the Public Sector.

Addressing the occasion, the Chief Guest, Ex CMD of ECL and BCCL, Shri C.S.Jha, brought out the objectives of Public Sectors, increase in its numbers in the country with time, its performance, contribution of the whole coal industry, specially Coal India Ltd., in energy supply in the country and described the role of the Public Sector Undertakings to be very effective. He stated that apart from fulfi lling the social commitments and taking welfare measures, the Public Sectors are making huge profi ts. During 2008-09, an amount of Rs. 1,51,728 crore was paid by the Public Sectors to the exchequer in the form of dividends, various taxes and interests. Apart from this, the Public sectors have played very effective role in social responsibilities. It was stated that the employees of the Public Sectors are sensible towards their responsibilities for the society apart from their own work for development of the company.

Shri S.N.Singh, Ex CMD, ECL spelt out the comparative advantage in Public Sector over the Private Sector in terms of equal and more opportunities to all workmen for growth. It was stated that the economic conditions of the Public Sector workers have improved over the years and, due to this reasons, they are able to take their family responsibilities effectively.

On this occasion, apart from Shri C.S.Jha, Shri S.N.Singh, Shri S.K.Verma, Shri A.K.Singh, CMPDI's Director(CRD); Shri N.Khurana, Director (P&D); Shri A.K.Debnath, Director(ES); Shri S.K.Mitra, Chief vigilance Offi cer; Shri A.K.Sharma, a good number of offi cers and staffs of CMPDI were also present.
