Testing Lab Inaugurated in CMPDI HQ

Cement and resin capsule testing lab was inaugurated by Sri A K Singh, CMD CMPDI on the auspicious occasion of Independence Day. On this occasion Sri AK Debnath, Director (T/P&D), Sri SK Mitra, Director (T/ES), Sri AN Sahay Director (T/RD&T) were present. Sri Anup Biswas Director of Mines Safety (DGMS) graced the occasion. Roof Bolting has become the mainstay of roof support in underground coal mine replacing timber support. This system of rood support is simple, effective and amenable to mechanised mining methods. In cement/resin capsule bolting, the capsules play many important role. Before these capsules are used in a mine, establishing their quality is very important. This fully equipped lab will help in testing and establishing the quality of these capsules and will help in enhancing safety of underground coal mines. It will be possible, through research in this lab, to optimise the composition and properties of these capsules for their effectiveness.
